26th Annual Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign to begin Wednesday with kick-off event in the Harry S. Truman State Office Building

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - The 26th annual Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign will officially begin with a kick-off event on Wednesday, Aug. 24th at 10:45 a.m. in the Harry S. Truman State Office Building, Rooms 490-492. The annual campaign is organized by the Office of Administration, and provides state employees with a coordinated opportunity to contribute to various charitable organizations.

At the kick-off event, OA Deputy Commissioner/General Counsel Renee Slusher will welcome state and departmental campaign coordinators. The coordinators play an important role by increasing awareness; organizing the campaign at various state agencies; and reminding employees about the increased need for donations.

"This year we saw thousands of Missourians severely impacted by storms, flooding, tornadoes and other catastrophic events," Slusher said. "To help our fellow Missourians in their time of need, the hardworking men and women in public service are ready to step-up and donate again to their favorite charities in record numbers."

Last year, Missouri state employees provided $1,074,000 in donations; marking the 10th year the campaign has exceeded $1 million and the sixth highest donation total in the campaign's 26th-year history.

During the event on Aug. 24, charity organizations will set up booths from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the 2nd- and 4th-floor atriums of the Truman Building to promote their organization, provide information and answer questions.  The Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign will run through November 2011.
