Abstract
This course is a continuation of DB2 Database Design and Administration and provides attendees with an understanding of additional administration tasks. It also provides a more in-depth understanding of some of the topics covered by the earlier course.
Audience
This course is of interest to anyone with a basic understanding of the design, implementation, and ongoing support and maintenance of DB2 databases wanting to expand their knowledge and skills.

The materials in the course reflect DB2 UDB for z/OS Version 8.
Objectives
- On-line schema enhancements
- Generic utility tasks using LISTDEF and TEMPLATE
- Utility performance and availability enhancements (LOAD, REBUILD, REORG, UNLOAD)
- Enhanced partition management
- Identifying the need for and definition of User defined Distinct Types (UDT), User defined Functions (UDF), Triggers, and Stored Procedures
- Large object data types, the relationship between base and auxiliary tables, logging and recovery implications
- Program preparation, the use of packages and the relevance of collections
