This course is intended for all application analyst/designers, programmer/analysts and programmers who are interested in understanding the use, syntax and use of the Structured Query Language (SQL) and the structure and coding requirements associated with a DB2 application program.

Prerequisites

A working knowledge of TSO/ISPF, COBOL and/or COBOL II.

Description

This course provides a comprehensive presentation of SQL and describes the structure and coding requirements of an application program that will access DB2 data. SQL’s use and syntax are discussed. In addition, detailed coding examples are provided as a means of understanding the functionality of DB2’s interface language. Hands-on workshops give each student the opportunity to code, execute and debug numerous SQL statements in either the SPUFI or QMF environments. DB2 coding techniques are explained. Hands-on workshops give each student the opportunity to code, execute and debug DB2 application programs that will be written in COBOL/COBOL II and executed in a TSO/DB2 environment
