Internet Information Services 5.0 (IIS) Introduction
Instructional Goal
Each participant will be made familiar with the increased Reliability, Performance and Security features of Microsoft Internet Information Services 5.0 (IIS), including Socket Pooling, Multi-site Hosting, Clustering, Replication, Throttling, Authentication, Certificates, Encryption and Auditing, by successfully completing the classroom exercises for each of the instructional objectives.
Objectives
Given a stand-alone server loaded with Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating system, IIS 5.0, hands-on exercises and classroom handouts, the participant will be able to:
- Explain how IIS 5.0 employs Socket Pooling
- Describe the three ways to Multi-site Host
- Describe the process and benefits of Clustering
- Define Replication as it applies to IIS
- Explain and differentiate Process Throttling and Per Website Bandwidth
- Throttling
- List the 8 improved management tools included in IIS 5.0
- Explain how WebDAV changes what users can do with their web content
- List and explain the 5 steps in securing your IIS server from attack
- List and detail the security standards used by IIS 5.0
- Name and summarize the five security mechanisms included in IIS 5.0
- Discuss the detail of the provided security wizard
