Learning Perl

Duration

Four Days

Pre-requisites

Experience with UNIX is assumed, ability to use UNIX editors, and a basic script language concept is required.

Who Should Attend

Learning Perl is designed for those who seek a working knowledge of the scripting language Perl in the UNIX environment. Our 579-W course is a very similar course designed for the Win32 environment. It is important that the correct version is ordered, as there are some differences between the two classes, including the books. Perl is a high level, multi-purpose language that is sweeping from UNIX to the non-UNIX world. Perl offers a wide range of functions for system administration, programming, distributed computing and other areas. This course is designed to introduce Perl with real life examples and hands-on experience. Every chapter includes hands-on exercises (not mentioned in outline). In addition, answers in printed form are included, and, if allowed, the source code.
