DEFINITION: This is supervisory work in directing the construction, renovation or major remodeling of buildings and other structures.  An employee in this class supervises skilled and semi-skilled employees engaged in new construction or major renovations of residences, dining halls, restrooms and other structures.  Employees direct building construction projects working from blueprints and specifications.  Work is performed with a considerable degree of independence, but is subject to review while in progress and upon completion.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (By Assignment): Ability to obtain the proper motor vehicle operator's license; or other training, licenses or certification as may be required for the operation and maintenance of equipment and proper construction methods.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: (The following entrance requirements are used to admit or reject applicants for merit system examinations, or may be used to evaluate applicants for employment in positions not requiring selection from merit system registers.  When applicable, equivalent substitution will be allowed for deficiencies in experience or education.)

Two or more years as a Building Construction Worker II under the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.

OR

Four or more years of skilled work in carpentry and one other building, electrical or mechanical trade; which includes two or more years in a supervisory capacity involving responsibility for directing the construction activities of skilled workers in the major building, electrical and mechanical trades.

EXAMINATION COMPONENT: Rating of Education and Experience, 100%.
