Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

This entry level position with OA-ITSD is based in the State Data Center (SDC) and is responsible for working with a dedicated group of individuals to support the duties and responsibilities of the SDC Operations Center. The SDC Operations Team has daytime and evening shifts that combine to provide 24/7 operational support for the SDC.

Extensive on-the-job training is provided to help new employees become a successful member of the team. Additional online training is available and team members are expected to continue expanding their knowledge and skills. New team members usually begin by working in the Print Room and eventually are trained to work in the Operations Center as they successfully advance and develop required skills.

  • General SDC Operations duties include:
  • Participate in on-the-job training with additional online training expected.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written procedures necessary to support SDC operations.
  • Achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task
  • Communicate with customers by phone and e-mail while tracking and monitoring systems to ensure continuous operation of state information technology systems and services.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of solution-driven internal operating procedures and processes.
  • Assist with the development and training of other team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Print Room duties include:

  • Work with high volume equipment printing checks, titles, letters, and other forms that must be delivered to customers in a timely manner.
  • Attention to detail and production of high quality printed material.
  • Report equipment repair and maintenance needs to technicians in a timely manner.
  • Provide reliable and timely response to all customer service requests.
  • Communicate effectively with customers verbally and by e-mail as needed to provide timely information and updates regarding print jobs.

Essential Operations Center duties include:

  • Monitor critical systems in the SDC and provide timely response to all service requests, incidents, problems, outages, maintenance, and performance alerts.
  • Work to support and triage active incidents and problems (including supporting senior staff during Level 1 conference calls) by using advanced monitoring tools, demonstrating skill searching and using logging systems, reviewing configuration information in databases and technical diagrams, and employing problem solving skills and knowledge of computer systems and networking.
  • Categorize issues for escalation to appropriate technical teams and notify customers and third-party service providers of issues, outages and remediation status.
  • Provide after-hours help desk support to end users.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

The successful candidate must have the willingness to learn, ability to adapt quickly, work on multiple tasks simultaneously, meet required deadlines, and to work with a team to develop and implement procedures and best practices. Experience working with various types of printing, monitoring, logging, ticketing, and communication software are desirable but not required. As is knowledge of and experience troubleshooting IT systems, applications, and network equipment. 

Team members need basic typing skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, planning and organizing, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making ability. Reliability, attention to detail, ability to follow verbal and written instruction, strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with customers and technical personnel are also necessary. A successful team member must also have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other team members and clients.

This position does require good visual acuity and the ability to lift, move, and transport supplies throughout the shift.
