Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

This position is with OA/ITSD with the Data Services Team. This position will provide support as both a Systems and an Applications Database Administrator for our distributed database environment along with supporting software used to maintain the security of the data.

Systems DBA supports and administers those services, directly related to the management of the DBMS software. Major aspects of DBMS software management include installs, upgrades, fixes, patches, version control, security, capacity planning, backup, recovery and documentation.

Applications Database DBA supports and administers those services, directly related to the management of the customer databases. Major aspects of database management include analysis, design, creation, maintenance, security, data backup, data recovery, capacity planning, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, data migration, query tuning, scheduled maintenance, disaster recovery, and documentation.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

General knowledge of various database technologies is desired. Must have good communication skills, possess a sense of urgency, be able to multitask and prioritize work in a fast paced environment, be able to work well in a team environment, and must be available off-hours for support on database issues and maintenance.
