27th Annual Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign to begin Wednesday

August 21, 2012

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - The 27th annual Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign (MSECC) will officially begin with a kick-off event at 10:45 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 22nd in the Harry S. Truman State Office Building, Rooms 490-492. The annual campaign is organized by the Office of Administration (OA), and provides state employees with a coordinated opportunity to contribute to various charitable organizations.

At the kick-off event, state and departmental campaign coordinators will be welcomed to the Capital City by MSECC organizers, followed by presentations by some local charities and coordinator training. The coordinators play an important role by increasing awareness; organizing the campaign at various state agencies; and reminding employees about the increased need for donations.

"For the past several years, state employees have done exceptionally well in donating to their favorite charities in record numbers," said OA Acting Commissioner of Administration Doug Nelson. "The Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign provides a unified fundraising campaign that demonstrates state employees' generosity, concern and compassion for others."

Last year, Missouri state employees provided $1,077,000 in donations; marking the 11th year the campaign has exceeded $1 million and the sixth highest donation total in the campaign's 27th-year history.

During the event on Aug. 22, charity organizations will set up booths from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the 2nd- and 4th-floor atriums of the Truman Building to promote their organization, provide information and answer questions.  The MSECC will run through November 2012.
