State releases January 2018 General Revenue Report

JEFFERSON CITY - State Budget Director Dan Haug announced today that 2018 fiscal year-to-date net general revenue collections increased 7.5 percent compared to 2017, from $5.11 billion last year to $5.49 billion this year.

Net general revenue collections for January 2018 increased 24.4 percent compared to those for January 2017, from $848.1 million last year to $1.06 billion this year. 

GROSS COLLECTIONS BY TAX TYPE
 
Individual income tax collections
Increased 7.6 percent for the year, from $3.85 billion last year to $4.15 billion this year.
Increased 31.7 percent for the month.

Sales and use tax collections
Increased 2.6 percent for the year from $1.24 billion last year to $1.28 billion this year.
Increased 12.7 percent for the month.

Corporate income and corporate franchise tax collections
Increased 24.6 percent for the year, from $193.1 million last year to $240.6 million this year.
Decreased 1.1 percent for the month.

All other collections
Increased 5.3 percent for the year, from $243.2 million last year to $256.0 million this year.
Increased 11.9 percent for the month.

Refunds
Increased 0.7 percent for the year, from $425.4 million last year to $428.5 million this year.
Increased 49.9 percent for the month.

Note: The FY 2018 total refund line includes Debt Offset Escrow amounts, which had not previously been included in the FY 2017 refund amount.
