Governor Mike Kehoe has ordered that the flag of the United States and the flag of Missouri be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol and at all government offices throughout Missouri on Friday, May 15, 2026, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Governor Kehoe Proclaims May 11-17, 2026, to be Peace Officers Memorial Week
Proclamation: 

WHEREAS, Missouri's peace officers bravely and altruistically work toward securing the safety and welfare of their fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, the 15th of May is designated as Missouri's Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week in which that date falls is known as Missouri's Peace Officers Memorial Week to pay tribute to federal, state, and local officers who have lost their lives or been injured in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, Missouri's Peace Officers Memorial Week honors the sacrifices of peace officers, and it is fitting to commemorate their service by flying the United States flag and the flag of Missouri at half-staff on all government buildings on Missouri's Peace Officers Memorial Day; and

WHEREAS, Peace Officers Memorial Week is annually commemorated in Missouri and throughout the United States, with its significance and importance increasing as more Americans recognize the numerous sacrifices made by law enforcement in safeguarding their communities; and

WHEREAS, in addition to sacrifices endured by Missouri's courageous peace officers, their families also shoulder immense burdens when an officer makes the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while selflessly protecting the public; and

WHEREAS, the citizens of the State of Missouri express gratitude for the courageous peace officers who view the well-being of others as their personal duty and dedicate themselves tirelessly to defending the lives and property of their fellow citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MIKE KEHOE, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, do hereby proclaim May 11-17, 2026, to be PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL WEEK in Missouri and encourage all citizens of this state to give special homage to those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard the well-being of their fellow citizens. Out of respect and honor, I do hereby order that the flag of the United States and the flag of Missouri shall be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol and at all government offices throughout Missouri on Friday, May 15, 2026, from sunrise to sunset.
