This is managerial and supervisory work directing a large and complex warehouse/storekeeping operation.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

One or more years of experience as a Supply Manager I with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

OR

Six or more years of experience maintaining inventory items and related records in a storeroom or warehouse, of which one or more years must have been in a supervisory capacity; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of four years of the required general experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Directs and coordinates all warehouse/storekeeping and related functions for an agency or state facility with a large and complex supply department.

Participates in establishing policies and procedures for the control of inventory, method of conducting scheduled inventories, and maintenance of documentation on all items received in a facility or agency.

Oversees and monitors operations; adapts processes to enhance efficiency and achievement of operational goals.

Prepares purchase requisitions to maintain adequate inventory levels of high turnover items; plans and coordinates a program of specialized inventory control; provides advice and technical expertise in preparing specifications and purchase requisitions for special items; maintains contact with vendors regarding items, purchase specifications, delinquent deliveries, errors in shipment, and substituted items.

Functions as the procurement agent on purchases of items not obtained through normal state purchasing procedures; contacts supply sources, researches specifications, obtains price quotations, and selects the vendor.

Supervises staff involved in warehouse/storekeeping functions.

Receives general administrative direction.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Comprehensive knowledge of storekeeping methods and procedures used in the receipt, storage, delivery, and shipment of various inventory items including perishable goods.

Comprehensive knowledge of inventory methods and procedures regarding property accountability and records maintenance.

Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of procurement and supply, fiscal control, and general office service functions.

Comprehensive knowledge of purchase and requisition procedures, transportation providers, and shipment methods.

Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of office organization and management, including supervision and training of personnel.

Comprehensive knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Comprehensive knowledge of computerized recordkeeping systems.

Ability to plan, schedule, and assign the work of staff.

Ability to supervise and train staff in the performance of their duties.

Ability to estimate the inventory needs of departmental units.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, department heads, and vendors.

Ability to comprehend and carry out complex directions and maintain records.
