This is highly specialized professional work in demographic analysis and reporting.
Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility. Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement; no other substitutions will be permitted. These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)
A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Demography, Geography, Statistics, Economics, Sociology, Urban Planning, Anthropology, Epidemiology, or Actuarial Science, which included coursework in demographic or statistical analysis; and,
Three or more years of professional experience in demography, statistics, economics, geography, or research, including work in modeling, analysis, forecasting and project management, and utilizing geographic information systems (GIS), database, and statistical software applications.
OR
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Demography, Geography, Statistics, Economics, Sociology, Urban Planning, Anthropology, Epidemiology, or Actuarial Science, which included coursework in demographic or statistical analysis; and,
Five or more years of professional experience in demography, statistics, economics, geography, or research, including work in modeling, analysis, forecasting, and project management, and utilizing geographic information systems (GIS), database, and statistical software applications.
(24 earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specified areas may substitute for one year of the required experience.)

Performs highly specialized professional work in the area of advanced demographic analysis and reporting, including developing the official state population estimates and projections.
Performs demographic analysis, provides statistical information to state agencies and the public, and coordinates decennial census activities.
Evaluates and reviews a wide variety of demographic data for use in estimating and projecting population of the State of Missouri .
Prepares periodic estimates and projections of the state population, and county-by-county population estimates and projections.
Serves as liaison with state agencies, the federal government, and local governments regarding population estimates and projections for the State of Missouri .
Supervises the decennial reapportionment project, including the supervision of professional, technical, and clerical personnel as assigned.
Provides data, reports, and technical assistance to other state agencies and the public.
Assists with providing data and support to state agencies related to planning and performance measures.
Exercises considerable initiative and judgment; receives general direction; work is reviewed through conferences and evaluation of reports.
Performs other related work, as assigned.
Comprehensive knowledge of demographic analysis and reporting.
Comprehensive knowledge of research methodology including the use of statistics and data collection.
Intermediate knowledge of population estimation and projection computer modeling.
Intermediate knowledge of principles and practices of supervision and administration.
Ability to plan, organize, and carry out complex assignments and projects.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to effectively organize and present the results of complex research or analysis.
