This is entry-level skilled work providing restorative therapy.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility and may be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

Possession of current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Missouri; and,

Two or more years of experience in the care, treatment, rehabilitation or habilitation of persons with physical or mental illness and/or physical or developmental disabilities, including one or more years assisting in administering restorative therapy; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Performs restorative nursing care and services in accordance with care plan providing assistance with dining, splints, range of motion, and ambulation.

Assists with transporting residents to and from their rooms, dining room, recreational room, and elsewhere as required.

Observes and records resident progress in therapy and functionality during daily living activities.

Assists residents in the safe practice of activities related to restorative therapy.

Provides prescribed maintenance treatment including mobilization of joints, joint manipulation, strain/counter strain, or other designated therapy; assembles, disassembles, and cleans equipment used in treatments.

Orders and stores supplies, forms, and equipment used for restorative therapy.

Performs duties without detailed instruction; receives supervision from a Restorative Technician or other senior-level restorative staff who reviews work through reports and observations.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Key Skills

Intermediate knowledge of routine restorative therapy treatments, techniques, and modalities.

Intermediate knowledge of the techniques used in lifting, moving, and transporting residents.

Intermediate knowledge of possible hazards to residents during treatment and necessary precautionary and remedial measures.

Intermediate knowledge of the purposes and goals of restorative therapy treatments.

Ability to demonstrate safe and proper techniques used in lifting, moving, and transporting residents.

Ability to work effectively with persons with physical and/or mental disabilities.

Ability to keep and maintain records of equipment, supplies, and materials.

Ability to communicate effectively with other staff.
