This is senior-level skilled work providing restorative therapy.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility and may be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

One or more years of experience as a Restorative Aide with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.

OR

Possession of current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Missouri; and,

Three or more years of experience in the care, treatment, rehabilitation or habilitation of persons with physical or mental illness and/or physical or developmental disabilities, including two or more years assisting in administering restorative therapy; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Assigns, directs, and evaluates the work of Restorative Aides.

Participates in the resident restorative care planning process.

Performs restorative nursing care and services in accordance with care plan providing assistance with dining, splints, range of motion, and ambulation.

Assists with transporting residents to and from their rooms, dining room, recreational room, and elsewhere as required.

Observes and records resident progress in therapy and functionality during daily living activities.

Assists residents in the safe practice of activities related to restorative therapy.

Provides prescribed treatment including mobilization of joints, joint manipulation, strain/counter strain, or other designated therapy; assembles, disassembles, and cleans equipment used in treatments.

Trains lower-level staff in restorative exercises and lifting, moving, and transferring residents.

Orders and stores supplies, forms, and equipment used for restorative therapy; maintains an adequate supply of materials and ensures that equipment is available to meet treatment needs; and maintains budget compliance.

Maintains records including treatment activities, equipment, and supply usage.

Exercises judgment and initiative within the limits of established policies and procedures; receives general administrative direction.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Comprehensive knowledge of routine restorative therapy treatments, techniques, and modalities.

Comprehensive knowledge of the techniques used in lifting, moving, and transporting residents.

Comprehensive knowledge of possible hazards to residents during treatment and necessary precautionary and remedial measures.

Comprehensive knowledge of the purposes and goals of restorative therapy treatments.

Ability to assign, direct, and evaluate the work of Restorative Aides.

Ability to demonstrate safe and proper techniques used in lifting, moving, and transporting residents.

Ability to work effectively with persons with physical and/or mental disabilities.

Ability to keep and maintain records of equipment, supplies, and materials.

Ability to communicate effectively with other staff.
