Definition

This is mid-level technical work collecting data by observing client behavior and/or administering standardized intelligence and personality tests.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility. Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement; no other substitutions will be permitted. These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

Two or more years of experience as a Behavioral Technician Trainee with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.

OR

Two or more years of supervised experience under the direction of a licensed Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor in the administration and scoring of standardized intelligence and personality tests; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six earned credit hours in Psychology, Behavioral Science, or a closely related area, including Psychological Test Theory and Administration, Statistics for Psychology or Behavioral Sciences, Education Testing and Measurements, or similar coursework may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)

OR

Two or more years of experience involving the care and treatment of clients in a mental health setting at the level of Psychiatric Aide II, Activity Aide II, or Developmental Assistant II; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Observes clients and records behavior and interactions.

Enters observational data into computerized assessment systems for summarization and analysis.

Participates in reliability and coding checks.

Interviews clients, administers and scores objective intelligence and personality tests, and prepares summaries of test results.

Maintains files and records of behavioral evaluations.

Assists with research by gathering data and retesting clients.

Assists the staff psychologist in the delivery of services by screening clients for special needs, answering questions regarding processes, and scheduling clients for tests.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Key Skills

Intermediate knowledge of the various types of standardized intelligence and personality tests and assessment systems.

Introductory knowledge of testing procedures used in a variety of intelligence and personality tests.

Introductory knowledge of treatment theories relating to clients with behavioral problems.

Ability to accurately report and record observations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and other employees.
