This is senior-level supervisory and technical work coordinating direct observational assessment operations and/or administering standardized intelligence and personality tests.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility.  Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement; no other substitutions will be permitted.  These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

Two or more years of experience as a Behavioral Technician with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.

OR

Sixty or more earned credit hours from an accredited college or university; and,

Two or more years of mid-level behavioral observation or testing experience.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Behavioral Science, or a closely related area, including Psychological Test Theory and Administration, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)

(Supervised experience under the direction of a licensed Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor in the administration and scoring of standardized intelligence and personality tests may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required education.)

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Coordinates and supervises the collection of data using various standardized behavioral assessment systems.

Supervises the activities and training of Behavioral Technicians and Trainees.

Administers and scores intelligence and personality tests.

Interviews clients to determine the feasibility of administering standardized intelligence and personality tests.

Observes clients and records behavior and interactions.

Maintains database of assessment information collected; provides data summaries for analysis.

Maintains files and records concerning client activities.

Participates in meetings and training sessions to update knowledge and to serve as a resource.

Assists the staff psychologist with research, the review of test data, and retesting of clients.

Assists the staff psychologist through consultation regarding changes or improvements to assessment systems.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Key Skills

Comprehensive knowledge of the various types of standardized intelligence and personality tests and assessment systems.

Comprehensive knowledge of coding procedures used in direct observational assessment systems.

Intermediate knowledge of testing procedures used in a variety of intelligence and personality tests.

Intermediate knowledge of treatment theories relating to clients with behavioral problems.

Ability to establish and maintain the cooperation of clients in the administration of tests.

Ability to observe and report relevant behavior.

Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and other employees.

Ability to train and supervise employees.
