This is work operating a motor vehicle to transport individuals and/or a variety of supplies, products, or materials.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility and may be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

One or more years of experience in the operation of a motor vehicle; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid operator's license appropriate for vehicle assignment at time of appointment.

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Operates a motor vehicle in the performance of duties, such as transporting clients; delivering mail and messages; and picking up and/or delivering a variety of supplies, products, or materials.

Operates a motor vehicle placarded for hazardous materials or designed to transport 16 or more individuals.

Transports staff/clients with responsibility for assisting staff in the care of clients; responsible for the clients' care in the absence of assigned staff.

Loads, unloads, and performs necessary handling operations in connection with materials being transported.

Verifies descriptions and quantities of all items picked up or delivered.

Prepares and maintains records of materials delivered for use in investigation and follow-up for property control purposes.

Maintains motor vehicle and related equipment by identifying, scheduling, and/or making needed repairs.

Performs clerical tasks incidental to the operation of a motor vehicle and related equipment.

Exercises independence in performance of responsibilities; receives general administrative direction.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Comprehensive knowledge of the rules and regulations regarding the safe operation of motorized equipment and the traffic laws of the State of Missouri.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently.

Ability to perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
