This is skilled carpentry work in the alteration, repair, maintenance, and incidental new construction of structures, equipment, and articles of wood, fiber board, and other material.
Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
(The following requirements will determine merit system eligibility, experience and education ratings, and may be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)
Completion of a formal four-year apprenticeship in the carpentry trade; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
OR
Five or more years of on-the-job training in the carpentry trade; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

Performs skilled carpentry work in the fabrication, alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolds, wood fixtures, furniture, and cabinets.
Operates power and hand tools used in skilled bench work such as power saws, jointers, lathes, planers, drills, and sanders.
Confers with supervisors on plans for large projects.
Estimates time and materials required for the completion of a work order and requisitions material; uses plans and blueprints for estimates and material requisitions.
Directs the work of assigned helpers; makes assignments, and reviews work in progress and completed projects.
Cleans, sharpens, and repairs hand and bench tools.
Receives supervision through assigned work orders and inspection of work for workmanship and compliance with directions.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Introductory knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, and tools of the carpentry trade.
Introductory knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the carpentry trade.
Ability to perform a variety of skilled carpentry work.
Ability to work from sketches and plans and to understand and carry out work orders.
Ability to make accurate estimates of time and materials required for completion of a work order.
Ability to instruct and direct the work of helpers.
Ability to climb and work from scaffolding or at some distance from the ground.
