This is entry-level technical work installing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing electronic devices and equipment.
Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

An Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Electronics or a closely related field.
OR
Two or more years of experience repairing electronic devices and equipment; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
(A combination of education from a formal program in building, mechanical, or electrical trades and experience described may substitute for the stated experience.)

Installs, maintains, and tests life safety and security systems including surveillance, fire alarm, audio-visual, and other related systems; ensures resolution of problems or refers complex issues to supervisor.
Inspects, cleans, and calibrates electronic and electrical equipment and components.
Maintains an inventory of parts used in the repair of electronic equipment.
Prepares and maintains files of technical literature, circuit diagrams, parts lists, inventory, and other necessary records.
Reads and studies equipment, program, and operations manuals.
Receives close supervision until protocols and procedures are learned; work is reviewed for technical accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Introductory knowledge of methods, tools, and practices used in the repair and maintenance of electronic and electrical equipment and systems.
Introductory knowledge of life safety and security systems, and other related electronic and electrical systems.
Skill in the use of hand and power tools essential to making repairs of electronic and electrical equipment.
Ability to use meters, scopes, and testing equipment for the performance of tests and maintenance of electronic and electrical systems.
Ability to repair at the circuit board level.
Ability to work from sketches, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
Ability to understand manuals in the operation and maintenance of systems.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, other agency personnel, and the general public.
