Definition

This is entry-level skilled work in the design, layout, and production of signs used in the state park system.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility and may be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

One or more years of semi-skilled experience in woodworking, carpentry, or silk-screening; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency, and a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Designs signs utilizing computer software and computer driven technology.

Fabricates signs using lumber, aluminum, and vinyl.

Produces silkscreen signs which includes cutting negative by plotter, making positive for silkscreen, preparing for and applying photo emulsion, positioning positive, and printing the screen onto the substrate.

Designs and generates sign plans.

Produces temporary signs and materials using letterpress equipment.

Engraves plastic and wooden signs, name tags, and desk plates.

Produces service award plaques and miniature cantilever signs.

Prepares posts and chooses appropriate hardware for attaching the signs.

Updates digital map with locations of new signs.

Prepares signs for shipping; picks up and delivers signs and materials.

Maintains shop area and tools; assists in the requisition of needed supplies and ordering of supplies and equipment.

Receives general supervision; work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion for conformance with prescribed standards.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Key Skills

Introductory knowledge of standard tools and practices used in sign making such as woodworking, carpentry, painting, and silk-screening.

Introductory knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in sign making processes.

Introductory knowledge of computer software and computer driven technology.

Introductory knowledge and skill in the use and operation of power and hand tools and silk-screening equipment.

Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to lift, move, and stack heavy objects.
