This is mid-level armed security and law enforcement lead work at an assigned Missouri National Guard base within the jurisdiction of the Office of the Adjutant General.
Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility and may be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)
Two or more years of experience as a Military Security Officer I with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.
OR
Two or more years of law enforcement experience as a certified peace officer with a federal, state, county, or city law enforcement entity; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
OR
Three or more years of experience in military or armed civilian security work; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
Ability to pass prescribed medical and physical fitness evaluations maintaining specified standards.
Ability to pass initial and periodic background investigations and maintain specified military security clearance(s).
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and a state Vehicle Operator's License.
Ability to pass prescribed training programs (includes annual weapons qualifications) as designated by the Office of the Adjutant General.

Acts as a lead worker in providing armed security and protection to aircraft, equipment, persons, and military resources located at the assigned base, including base buildings and grounds.
Supervises or assists in the supervision of Military Security Officer I’s on an assigned shift.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of work schedules; makes routine changes in the daily assignments of Military Security Officer I’s on an assigned shift.
Maintains various guard posts such as providing flightline protection, monitoring access gates, acting as a roving patrol of base buildings and grounds, monitoring the security control center, and monitoring vehicle traffic/parking within base jurisdiction; rotates posts as directed.
Observes activities of base personnel, civilian staff, and the general public; detains persons suspected of law violations; conducts searches of persons and property within jurisdictional limitations; and contacts local police when necessary.
Answers inquiries from the public; directs or escorts visitors to appropriate offices or other facilities.
Operates and monitors computerized intrusion and fire alarm systems; responds to fire and intrusion alarms on military property; and assists building occupants during fire evacuation procedures.
Investigates on-site incidents and/or accidents; prepares clear and concise reports citing violations of military regulations, agency security procedures, and federal, state, and/or local laws; and provides court testimony.
Administers first aid and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in cases of injury and/or medical emergencies.
Enforces traffic control laws and parking regulations within assigned jurisdiction, including issuance of tickets and authorization of towing illegally parked vehicles.
Performs a variety of program support functions including ordering, issuance, and inventory of program supplies and equipment; preparation and maintenance of program personnel, financial, and related security records; and assisting in preparation of program budget requests.
Participates in initial, regularly scheduled, and impromptu in-service training sessions; periodically obtains re-certification in CPR, basic first aid, firearms and non-lethal weapons usage, and handcuffing.
Provides military security escort protection; participates in disaster and relief operations; and advises base building occupants of hazardous weather conditions.
Exercises initiative and independence in the performance of duties; receives general supervision from an administrative supervisor.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Intermediate knowledge of security procedures, policies, rules, and regulations established for the assigned base.
Intermediate knowledge of applicable military regulations, policies, and directives for the assigned base.
Intermediate knowledge of base security measures, including planning, implementation, and control.
Intermediate knowledge of law enforcement techniques and methods used to handle various persons and groups.
Intermediate knowledge of the principles of mob psychology, first aid, fire prevention, and safety.
Intermediate knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines regarding base flightline security as required by assignment.
Intermediate knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective supervision and training.
Intermediate knowledge of computerized security systems.
Ability to quickly assess information and take corrective action in emergency situations.
Ability to display proficiency in firearms usage.
Ability to operate computerized security/fire alarm systems, communication systems such as two-way radios/ cellular phones, and personal computers.
Ability to administer first aid and CPR.
Ability to proficiently operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to maintain records and prepare clear and concise reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with base personnel, civil staff, and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively.
