This is supervisory and administrative liquor control law enforcement and regulatory work within an assigned district of the state for the Department of Public Safety, Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.
Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility. Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement; no other substitutions will be permitted. These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)
Three or more years of experience as an Agent and/or Special Agent with the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; and,
Two or more years of experience as a law enforcement officer with the power of arrest; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
(Additional qualifying work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the college education.)
(24 earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.)

Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control prior to appointment.

Ability to be certified as a commissioned peace officer in accordance with the requirements established by the State of Missouri.

Possession of a valid Missouri vehicle operator’s license.

Directs the enforcement of state liquor control laws and regulations in an assigned geographical district; travels as required for oversight of enforcement and regulatory operations.
Provides administrative support and advice to management on division policies, procedures, and issues relating to the enforcement of liquor control laws and regulations.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates staff investigating and documenting alleged liquor law violations.
Reviews licensure applications processed by staff to ensure that appropriate documentation has been submitted and that necessary background checks and on-site inspections have been performed; submits applications to central office for approval or denial of license.
Monitors inspections of licensed establishments conducted by staff to ensure that procedures are followed and requirements are met; receives feedback from licensees regarding Agents’ performance during the inspection process.
Assigns and coordinates the investigation of complaints regarding alleged liquor law violations; authorizes undercover work and/or surveillance of licensed establishments to observe underage customers purchasing and/or consuming alcoholic beverages.
Participates in meetings with licensees cited for liquor law violations; makes recommendations to administrative staff regarding disciplinary actions.
Cooperates with other law enforcement agencies in investigations of illegal activities involving licensed establishments.
Oversees and/or participates in the collection, identification, and preservation of evidence following regimented procedures for maintaining the chain of custody.
Testifies for prosecution in criminal cases related to alleged liquor law violations.
Coordinates and/or participates in making presentations and conducting training seminars regarding liquor control laws and regulations.
Responds to inquiries from the public regarding liquor control laws and regulations, licensing procedures, and related issues.
Monitors staff participation and participates in periodic evaluation and retraining sessions in the use of firearms, nonlethal weapons, and arrest tactics to maintain required certifications.
Oversees and participates in the orientation and training of new Agents; conducts performance evaluations of staff in assigned district.
Plans and schedules district activities to achieve agency goals.
Reviews inspection and violation reports, work logs, expense accounts, and related documents submitted by staff; compiles monthly district reports.
Exercises a high degree of initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned responsibilities within established policies and procedures.
Performs other related work as assigned.
