State employee donations exceed $1 million in annual charitable campaign; over $30 million raised in campaign history

“Building a Brighter Future” campaign will benefit nearly 800 Missouri charities

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Office of Administration today announced that this year’s Missouri State Employee Charitable Campaign (MSECC) exceeded donations of $1 million for the 14th consecutive year, with more than $1,060,388.00 donated to 796 Missouri charities. During the past 33 years, state employees have donated more than $30 million to the annual campaign.

“There is no greater mark of human compassion than the willingness of a person to reach out their hand and extend it another in need,” said Office of Administration Commissioner Sarah Steelman. “The State of Missouri is fortunate to have a workforce that consistently and generously puts the needs of our citizens first by supporting our annual charitable campaign.”

Other notable highlights from this year’s campaign:
- In the spirit of leading by example, the Governor’s Office employees had a 100 percent participation rate.
- Department of Corrections ranked 1st in pledges among state departments.
- Office of Administration employees had their highest pledges in the history of the campaign.
- Auditor’s Office employees also had their highest pledges in the history of the campaign.

The MSECC is an annual fundraising effort organized by the Office of Administration that provides state employees and retirees with the opportunity to make donations to their favorite charitable organizations through the convenience of payroll deduction or one-time gifts. The State of Missouri has a history of philanthropy and a spirit of service. Since the inception of the annual campaign, state employees have donated more than $30 million to charities statewide. Donations have exceeded $1 million in 17 of the 33 years.
