JEFFERSON CITY – The Office of Administration today recognized two state employee work teams with the 2015 Governor’s Award for Quality and Productivity (GAQP), which acknowledges accomplishments that serve as an example of continuous improvement, quality, efficiency and productivity in Missouri state government.
“I am proud of the accomplishments of the state employee work teams receiving today’s Governor’s Award for Quality and Productivity,” said Office of Administration Commissioner Doug Nelson. “This year’s recipients have all played a valuable role in improving the lives of Missourians and making state government more efficient and effective.”
All winning nominations were required to meet criteria related to effectiveness, responsiveness and efficiency that would serve as a model of excellence for other work teams in state government.
This year’s GAQP recipients include:
Efficiency/Process Improvement
Missouri Automated Criminal History Site (MACHS) Fingerprint Portal: Department of Public Safety for creating a new system that will allow the state to electronically process fingerprint-based background checks. The new system has allowed for the reduction of FTE positions and man-hours previously dedicated to manually processing such checks, and also enhanced state agencies’ ability to make timely hiring and/or licensing decisions based on fingerprint-based background check results.
Technology in Government
MO Hunting Mobile Application: Department of Conservation for producing a mobile application that provides Missouri hunters and anglers with a new creative technology to improve their outdoor hunting and angling experience. Available in iOS and Android operating systems, MO Hunting provides a single tool for hunters and anglers to purchase hunting and fishing permits directly from a mobile device and store them on their smart phone, telecheck their animal harvest, and see all of their telecheck information for the past two years.
Since 1988, this prestigious award has recognized service excellence, encouraged and rewarded innovation and reinforced pride in service to Missouri state government. The GAQP program is administered by the Missouri Division of Personnel’s Center for Management and Professional Development.
