This is administrative and managerial work planning, directing, analyzing, and coordinating programs and services for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Responsibilities may include one or more of the following areas: park or historic site operations, natural/cultural resource management, environmental education, or marketing and business management.
(This classification is part of the broad-banded management service.)

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Parks and Recreation, natural sciences, History, Art or Music History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Museum Studies, Park Management, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Fisheries, Biology, Botany, Engineering, Public Relations, Marketing, Education, Business or Public Administration, Law Enforcement, or a closely related field; and,
Four or more years of experience in parks and recreation, park or historic site operation/maintenance, cultural resource preservation, natural resource management, natural resource promotion/education, marketing, business management, environmental education, engineering, or a closely related area.
(Earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specified areas may substitute on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years of the required experience at a rate of 24 earned graduate credit hours for one year of experience.)
(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required education.)
May be required by assignment to obtain a Missouri Law enforcement commission.
May be required to live in state-owned housing located within or near the assigned state park or historic site facility.
May be required to relocate.

Directs or assists in the overall planning, development, and administration of the assigned natural resource program or service; assists in directing the development and implementation of departmental planning issues.
Directs or assists in the general management of policy development, program planning, and coordination, and the evaluation of policy and/or organizational changes and new programs.
Reviews and/or revises programs to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, plans, and procedures.
Develops or participates in the development and promotion of natural resource educational and public information programs.
Develops and/or coordinates marketing and business management plans for facilities, events, or programs.
Coordinates visitor and education services in assigned park or historic site operation; monitors quality of programs provided.
Develops and implements facility maintenance procedures that are compliant with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to the environment, public health, safety, and accessibility.
Directs or assists in the operation, maintenance, stewardship, and/or historical and cultural research of the assigned facility.
Directs or assists in the identification, evaluation, and protection of cultural resources.
Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.
Participates in the development, implementation, and/or interpretation of new or revised programs.
Participates in conferences, training sessions, and meetings.
Participates in the development of budget requests; monitors expenditures according to budget allocations/appropriations; recommends and/or initiates cost-saving measures.
Conducts investigations and institutes special studies; prepares and/or reviews reports and related information to evaluate existing organizations, policies, procedures, and practices.
Represents and/or serves as liaison for the assigned area of responsibility; cooperates with federal, state, local, and community organizations pertaining to the assigned programs.
Negotiates and/or administers contracts, grants, and cooperative agreements with federal, state, county, and local governments, community organizations, and concessionaires.
Exercises considerable initiative and judgment in planning and carrying out assignments; receives general administrative direction; work is reviewed through conferences, reports, and evaluation of operational results.
Performs other related work as assigned.
