Missouri Kicks Off Annual Charitable Campaign

This year’s theme “Building a Brighter Future” encourages state employees to help those in need
August 21, 2013

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. –Today, the state of Missouri kicked off the 29th annual Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign (MSECC) in Jefferson City to encourage state employees to contribute to charitable organizations that assist others in time of need. The statewide MSECC will run through November 2013.

“For many years, the Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign has provided a unified fundraising campaign for state employees to easily show their support, generosity and compassion for others,” said Commissioner of Administration Doug Nelson. “Last year, state employees donated more than $1 million to various charities across the state and nation. We hope to continue with a record number of donations this year.”

This year’s event also includes an online auction of a children’s playhouse constructed by the River City Habitat for Humanity. The auction will be held through Sept. 30 with proceeds being returned to the River City Habitat for Humanity.

In 2012, Missouri state employees continued the tradition of giving by making it the twelfth year to commit to more than $1 million in donations, raising the total of contributions to more than $25 million over the past 28 years. Nearly 8,000 Missouri state employees contributed.
