This is routine manual work performing laundry activities in a state facility.
Operates washers, extractors, dryers, and tumblers.
Uses mangles, presses, or hand irons for finishing laundry.
Marks, counts, and sorts incoming laundry; counts and checks out finished laundry.
Folds, sorts, receives, and stores clothing and linen in an institutional linen or supply room.
Strips beds, collects and replaces bed linens.
Cleans laundry areas and equipment.
Receives specific instructions and close supervision in the performance of duties; quality of work is reviewed through inspections during progress and upon completion.
Performs other related work as assigned.
(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility and may be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)
One or more years of work experience or self employment.

Introductory knowledge of the use and operation of laundry machines and equipment.
Introductory knowledge of soaps, bleaches, softeners, starches, and stain removers, and their proper use in laundry operations.
Ability to lift or push heavy objects.
Ability to operate various laundry equipment such as washers, extractors, dryers, mangles, presses, and hand irons.
Ability to perform routine manual work.
Ability to work long hours while standing and under conditions of high temperatures and humidity.
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and residents.
