Definition

This is entry-level technical work in the operation of computers and related equipment.

Job Duties

Performs routine technical duties in the operation and monitoring of computer and peripheral equipment for state agencies.

Operates magnetic tape, data storage, disk replication, and other related devices/equipment.

Monitors State printing schedules and equipment; verifies completion of print jobs; contacts appropriate personnel to correct issues when there is a failure of equipment or scheduled jobs.

Operates computer during routine production or conversion runs; performs operations according to schedule and program instructions.

Assists with the scheduling and monitoring of production jobs utilizing mainframe production control scheduling software; reviews job triggers, predecessors, successors, and requirements within a schedule.

Monitors systems, jobs processing, networks, and hardware; enters commands into computer console; and responds to alerts.

Distributes output appropriately, ensuring timely return of data to proper users.

Maintains accurate records and documentation of job runs.

Receives close supervision from a designated technical staff member or supervisor who reviews work for adherence to schedules and established quality standards.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Two or more years of work experience; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

(30 earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.)
