This is entry-level work involving the supervision of offenders engaged in a vocational enterprise operation.
Supervises and trains offenders in the performance of various enterprise related tasks, and maintenance of equipment and materials used.
Exercises and promotes constant vigilance over offender actions to prevent contraband and ensure accountability for all materials; reports unusual activities.
Inspects work-in-progress for conformance with quality standards and efficiency of operations.
Inspects machines and equipment for proper operation and maintenance.
Supervises or participates in the servicing, maintenance, and minor repair of industry equipment.
Issues, inspects, collects, counts, and locks up hand tools to maintain security.
Maintains daily work order records regarding time and materials used, and type of work performed for documentation and billing purposes.
Inspects buildings and work area for potential fire hazards and unsafe working conditions.
Evaluates performance and skills of offender workers.
Assists in requisitioning materials and supplies, and in estimating the cost of various jobs.
Participates in the training and orientation of offenders regarding the procedures of various vocational enterprise operations.
Receives general administrative direction to ensure compliance with established vocational enterprise operation guidelines.
Performs other related work as assigned.
(The following requirements will determine merit system eligibility, experience and education ratings, and may be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)
One or more years of experience in a production area, or in an area related to a vocational enterprise operation (e.g., upholstery, engraving, printing, laundry, furniture restoration, metal fabrication, chair manufacturing and assembly, or manufacturing of shoes, furniture, or chemical products) of the Missouri Department of Corrections; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
OR
Two or more years of any work experience; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
By assignment, a position may require:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a Missouri Class A Commercial Drivers License at the time of appointment or within 6 months of being appointed or assigned to a position.

Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, or patterns.
