This is supervisory work in directing sales activities for Missouri Vocational Enterprises (MVE) Program of the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility.  Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement.  These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

Two or more years of experience as a Vocational Enterprises Representative with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

OR

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Business Administration, Marketing, or a closely related field; and,

Two or more years of experience in commercial sales (not counter sales), small business management, marketing, or comparable business experience involving extensive public contact.

(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required college education.)

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Directs, plans, and coordinates sales activities for MVE; supervises and evaluates sales staff.

Arranges and coordinates sales visits with customers to promote new and existing MVE products and services.

Analyzes and evaluates existing customer needs and problems in order to improve services.

Reviews purchase orders to ensure prices, shipping and receiving dates, and delivery schedules are accurate.

Approves waivers for state agencies to purchase products from a different source.

Prepares modular office system cubical designs for offices and conference rooms.

Investigates customer complaints and recommends possible solutions.

Trains staff on sales of new products and services.

Participates in workshops to exhibit and demonstrate products and services to current and potential customers.

Confers with administrative staff in the planning, evaluation, and coordination of sales activities.

Travels with staff to participate in sales presentations and/or resolve customer issues.

Receives general administrative direction.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Comprehensive knowledge of MVE products, services, materials, and policies concerning manufacturing, product sales, and delivery.

Comprehensive knowledge of the practices of sales techniques.

Ability to direct, supervise, train, and evaluate staff.

Ability to prepare and present effective sales information to customers.

Ability to investigate and resolve customer complaints.

Ability to maintain records and prepare reports of current and new products and services.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
