Definition

This is entry-level public contact and sales work involving the promotion of Missouri Lottery products to established retail accounts holders within an assigned territory.

 

Job Duties

Places telephone calls to assigned retailers to ensure an adequate supply of Lottery products is available at each of the Lottery selling locations, and to promote products and conduct market surveys.

Receives training on the portfolio of products offered by the Missouri Lottery and best practices for effectively promoting the sale of these products at the retail level.

Establishes and maintains effective relationships with retailers to promote the sale of Missouri Lottery products.

Analyzes trends and inventory using ordering software system; recommends a best inventory mix based on sales, price point, number of products, and total product inventory; monitors the low inventory list to resolve for inventory issues that fall outside of the normal contact schedule.

Negotiates game mix and number of games on display with retailers to optimize sales.

Recommends changes to billing options that would improve inventory management for the respective retailer.

Negotiates and receives authorization from some retailers to automatically generate orders without further contact/authorization; manages and controls product inventory for consenting retailers to avoid product overages and shortages.

Monitors the low inventory list to resolve inventory issues that fall outside of the normal contact schedule.

Provides information and assistance to retailers regarding Lottery policies and procedures relating to new and existing products, incentive programs, billing schedules, licensing, and bond renewals.

Responds to courier issues which may involve communicating with team leaders or the Lottery Security Division concerning shipping problems.

Communicates with field sales and management staff to resolve retailer issues.

Maintains a working knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and operations applicable to the sale/redemption of Lottery products.

Attends sales meetings, training programs, and seminars.

Plans and schedules work activities to achieve established sales and marketing goals.

Exercises independence, judgement, and initiative under general administrative direction; work is reviewed for conformance to established policies and procedures.

Performs other related work as assigned.

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility. Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement. These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

One or more years of experience as a Senior Office Support Assistant, or Lottery Customer Service Representative with the Missouri Lottery Commission; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

OR

Two or more years of experience as an Office Support Assistant with the Missouri Lottery Commission; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

OR

Two or more years of experience in phone sales/consultation, commercial sales, persuasive sales, business management, or a closely related area; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)
