This is senior-level professional, specialized, and/or consultative work in information technology environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility. Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement; no other substitutions will be permitted. These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

Two or more years of experience as an Information Technology Specialist II with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.

OR

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in computer science or computer information technology; and,

Nine or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas: applications development/support, business/systems analysis, communications technologies, network technologies, information technology security, databases, system programming, end user support, and/or web technologies including four or more years of technical experience which involved leading projects that lasted one year or longer.

(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required education.)

(24 or more earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specified areas may substitute for one year of the required general experience.)

Job Duties

Provides technical direction and consultative guidance to management and/or project teams to successfully meet information technology goals and initiatives of the State of Missouri.

Researches, analyzes, and recommends technical solutions to integrate and improve efficiency of information technology systems, and incorporate emerging technology and operational best practices.

Provides expert advice involving new requirements/technology or enhancements to existing information technology environments.

Researches information technology trends and evaluates feasibility of integration of technology into current systems.

Researches, reviews, and recommends bid specifications and/or proposals for hardware and/or software purchases.

Provides technical solutions to ensure data and systems integrity.

Mentors and assists with training of personnel in specialized areas of information technology; performs supervisory and/or lead functions as assigned.

Exercises a high degree of skill and competency which utilizes judgment and initiative in the performance of duties; works independently meeting with management to discuss direction of projects; and/or receives general administrative direction.

Performs other related work as assigned.
