This is technical and complex clerical work assisting in the coordination and promotion of the securing of contracts by minority business enterprises with the State of Missouri.
An employee in this class provides assistance to minority business enterprises in order that they might increase their participation in the public market place. Work involves assisting with the implementation of an established program to promote increased participation of minority business enterprises in contractual opportunities with state and local governments. Supervision is provided by the Minority Purchasing Coordinator or other designated administrative superior.

Four years of technical or above the entry level clerical experience in general business and office work, of which at least one year must have included experience working with minority groups in community development, human relations or business development; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency. (Coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the stated experience.)

Develops and maintains files of minority business enterprises registered with the Division of Purchasing and Materials Management.
Assists in the development and distribution of the directory of Division of Purchasing and Materials Management registered minority business enterprises.
Handles requests for supplier registration with minority vendor status.
Mails and monitors receipt of "vendor statement of minority status" forms.
Distributes historical bid information to minority business enterprises.
Develops and prepares in-house minority purchasing activity reports for the Minority Purchasing Coordinator.
Assists in coordinating and conducting seminars for minority business enterprises.
Reviews daily bid opportunities for minority business enterprises.
Monitors contract performance of minority business enterprises as directed by the Minority Purchasing Coordinator.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling and mathematics.
Working knowledge of the principles of office management and of standard record maintenance procedures.
Working knowledge and understanding of the minority business community.
Some knowledge of state statutes and procedures of state government purchasing.
Ability to operate word processing/data entry equipment.
Ability to develop, lay out and install clerical procedures from general instructions.
Ability to understand and follow complex instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the public.
