This is entry-level technical work collecting data by observing client behavior and/or administering standardized intelligence and personality tests.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility.  Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement; no other substitutions will be permitted.  These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

One or more years of experience in one or a combination of the following: work in a mental health setting involving the care and treatment of clients; office or related clerical work in a mental health or correctional setting; public contact work in such areas as sales (other than counter sales), business or office management, or public administration; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for year basis for deficiencies in the required education.)

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience, at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Participates in formal and on-the-job training courses in the theory and techniques of behavioral evaluation.

Receives training in behavioral observations, principles of interviewing, and usage of a variety of standardized assessment systems.

Assists in the observation and recording of client behavior and interactions.

Assists in entering observational data into computerized assessment systems for summarization and analysis.

Assists in administering and scoring objective intelligence and personality tests.

Assists in preparing summaries of evaluation results.

Maintains files and records of behavioral evaluations.

Performs other related work as assigned.

Ability to understand and carry out instructions.

Ability to accurately report and record observations.

Ability to complete on-the-job training, as well as a basic course of instruction in behavioral observation and testing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and other employees.
