This is administrative and supervisory work directing the marketing and sales program of the Missouri Vocational Enterprises (MVE) Program in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:

(The following minimum qualifications will determine merit system eligibility. Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding minimum qualification statement. These minimum qualifications may also be used to evaluate applicants for Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System positions not requiring selection from merit registers.)

One or more years of experience as a Vocational Enterprises Sales Manager with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

OR

Three or more years of experience as a Vocational Enterprises Representative with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

OR

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Business Administration, Marketing, or a closely related field; and,

Three or more years of experience in commercial sales (not counter sales), small business management, marketing, or comparable business experience involving extensive public contact, including one or more years of experience in marketing products or services.

(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required college education.)

Job Duties

This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification.

Coordinates marketing and sales activities; directs, evaluates, and trains staff.

Directs production and maintenance of promotional materials, sales brochures/flyers, catalog updates, and product shows.

Reviews market analyses and participates in the research and development of new products and markets.

Analyzes sales and promotional efforts to determine cost effectiveness of marketing strategies.

Develops and maintains a retail outlet and marketing plan for sales to State employees.

Develops sales forecast and prepares reports on sales volume, marketing efforts, and potential opportunities.

Conducts competitive product analyses, tests market standing, and surveys customer satisfaction.

Assists the sales manager in resolving customer complaints.

Researches and examines existing product line to identify products to discontinue; tracks profitable new product offerings.

Exercises considerable independence and initiative in the performance of duties; receives general administrative direction.

Performs other related work as assigned.
